Red Wire design

Got me mirror plates today and dropped of more press releases and flyers to galleries around town, a meeting ended early so made my escape and came home. Gave me time to put idea together for next edition of Red Wire.

Another lunchtime should see off the remaining tasks, hanging the show on Wednesday, v tired again.

RELENTLESS FORMS


The Urban Arts Lounge on Smithdown Road, hosts an exhibition by a group of up-and-coming local artists with a diverse range of original and exciting work.

Sue Lucine, who curated the exhibition said: "The show is a celebration of consummate art and features artists with a high degree of personal intent."

“The exhibition, titled Relentless Forms, deals with forms of all sorts that we encounter in our lives and how these form twist and move relentlessly irrespective of any impetus or direction. Nothing stays the same.”

The exhibition includes Alina Villa’s paintings of landscapes, Pam
Holstein’s quirky hand made prints, Joe Bramell linear black and white drawings, Karen Henley's unusual primitive style human figures and Sarah Richards’ semi-abstract studies based on portraiture.

The exhibition opens with a private view on Friday 3rd March where the artists will all be present and happy to talk about their work. The show runs until 2 May.

STATEMENT
The theme that is emerging in my current body of work is a tongue in cheek juxtaposition of animals (both living an extinct!) in surreal situations. The prints featuring dinosaurs are part of a series depicting the obsessions of a consumer society.

There’s no need to visit a superstore to get art for your home. A new exhibition, opening at the Urban Coffee Lounge in Smithdown Road on 2 March is showcasing five local artists with a diverse range of original and affordably priced work.

Three of my prints are small enough to enter the Arts Council cometition 50x50 cm, Great. Now all I have to do is update my CV and all the paperwork and get it in the first class post on Monday. Off to Newcastle tomorrow to see Julian Cope so will have to sort it all when I get back on Thursday. :-)

Hassle

No free time tonight, its all been hassle, but no word from the other artists either, looks like they're happy with my release, will send it out on Thursday. Got till the 28th to sort out an application form for an arts council exhibition that I heard about through art in Liverpool, don't think they'll pick my stuff, its not sufficiently developed, but need to try all the same. Hoped to do it tonight but no chance with home life exerting pressures. Exhausted, now to bed.

Exhibition Preparations

I'm taking part in a group exhibition that opens next month. Yesterday I picked up three of my pictures from the framers, they had done a really good job but the price was £60 eek! Unlikely to make that back by selling but we live in hope. I've already got two framed prictured that I exhibited last year at the Polished T gallery in Liverpool.

Today I gathered the comments from other people who are exhibiting about the press release that I'd written, made a few alterations and emailed it around for their final comments before I send it out to the listings mags next week. Now must get ready for work tomorrow. :-(
